Description
This coin has the highest mintage of all early Portugese 5 Escudo coins (first 5$00 coin minted in 1932) bearing the ship design. At nearly 7 million pieces, its numbers eclipse the 1942. These coins were minted periodically until 1951, then no 5 escudo coins were minted again until 1960 where the design was changed.
Composition 65% silver. Silver weight 0.1463 oz.
